2020/21 Welcome Message from the PAC Chair

With nods and bows, virtual fist pumps and high fives, welcome back to the 2020/21 school year. My name is Winston Lo, your current Douglas PAC Chair (Parent Advisory Committee). The PAC is part of your school community for Douglas Annex and Douglas Elementary (main school). We have a wonderful group of parent volunteers who are big pillars for our schools, and this year we will be here for you again, though it may look differently.

How was the first day of school for you and your children? I had mixed feelings today as I waited for my daughter to enter the school at her designated waiting area. You see, I usually walk the staircases with her to get in step counts and check in with teachers and students. Now walking in from afar and checking in with friends young and old outside the school will do.

Normally the PAC would have had a welcome table with coffee and muffins for parents this week, but we all know that’s not possible in order to keep everyone healthy and safe. However, the PAC needs your support more than ever. We don’t exactly know what fundraising will look like as of yet, nor do we know alternatives to hot lunches, bake sales, bbq’s and sport days. We do know this, as we face new challenges, the more help and resources available the better.

It takes a village to raise a child. If you may be available to volunteer with the Douglas PAC, please let me know through this link.
